Japan's Earthquake
The earthquake in Japan was a magnitude 9. It was devastating and killed thousands of people. One hour after the earthquake there was a tsunami which killed even more people. But after all that tragedy there was more. A nuclear power plant exploded and radiation was leaking out. It was a very bad event for Japan.
Osama Dead
The U.S finally found Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan in hiding. On May 4 Osama was shot by Navy Seals. Osama was in charge of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center. He was the leader for a long time of the terrorist organization Al-Queada.
Muammar Gaddafi Killed
On October 20, 2011 Gaddafi was killed in a cave in his home town in Libya. He was the longest ruler to rule Libya. He was in control since 1969. He was a cruel leader to his people and made them suffer. He was one of the main dictator's in this year's Arab Spring.
Flood In Thailand
This year, Thailand suffered from very severe flooding. Thailand's three major rivers, the Mekong Mae Mon and Mae Chi overflowed and caused huge flooding across the country. In addition to all the danger the flood put people in, the flood was also a huge financial loss losing around 45.7 billion dollars in U.S currency.

Scandal in the UK
The newspaper NEWS OF THE WORLD in the UK hacked into phone lines and emails of the people. The police found out what was happening and journalists were arrested. They well regret what they did to the people they hacked. It caused a big fight between the public and the press.
Arab Spring
This year Tunisian people protested because the government killed one of their people. Their leader, President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali stepped down without putting up a fight. The Egyptians started doing the same thing, but they protested. They took out their leader, President Hosni Mubarak on February 12th. The other countries involved in the Arab spring were Algeria, Lebanon, Jordan, Mauritania, Sudan, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Iraq, Bahrain, Kuwait, Morocco, Syria. It also happened on the borders of Israel.
Euro Coins
Throughout the whole year of 2011, the country of Greece has been in debt. No other country wants to help them and lend them money because they are afraid that if they do that, Greece will lose their money too.
